Iran to extend overseas collaboration in cinema: Official

Cinema Organization of Iran director says that there are plans to extend the country’s overseas collaboration on film productions.

The Islamic Republic of Iran seeks to increase collaborative efforts with neighboring countries, especially India and China, as well as markets overseas, Mohammad-Mehdi Heidarian said at a conference in Tehran on Sunday.

He added that Iran's film-governing body will continue to support filmmaking efforts in the country.

“However, we have reviewed the past and plan to reinforce our supervision” on Iran Cinema, Heidarian said.

Over 100 movie theaters have been launched across Iran over the past year, with an increase in license issuance for film productions.

Iran Cinema borrows aspects of the rich, ancient Persian culture as well as from highly-evolved Iranian contemporary form.
